Mission Statement

The Traffic Signal Maintenance Department provides the highest level of service to the citizens of Harlingen by maintaining operations at all traffic signal intersections that safely and efficiently accommodate all road users. We routinely inspect, repair and install equipment that controls the flow of traffic designed to manage traffic and reduce travel times while keeping cars, pedestrians, cyclists, and anyone else using the road safe.

Objectives: 

• Maintain and service 90 traffic signal intersections. 
• Maintain and service 87 school zone flashers for public and private schools.
• Provide traffic data studies for newly proposed stop signs and speed humps.
• Report streetlights out of order to local utilities for service and repair. 
• Responsible for city street signs, traffic control signs and regulatory signs.
• Maintains the traffic lane stripping on streets throughout the city.
• Install approved speed humps.
