Nestled in the heart of our community, the Harlingen Animal Shelter represents a beacon of hope for our four-legged friends. Officially established in 2024 as a proud department of the City of Harlingen, our purpose is heartfelt and simple: to find forever homes for cats, dogs, and all their adorable puppies and kittens.

At Harlingen Animal Shelter, we believe that every animal deserves a chance at happiness and a loving family. With this belief guiding us, our dedicated team of nine full-time staff members and two part-time staff members work to care for our animals, coordinate meaningful adoptions, engage our community through social media, and do everything within our power to ensure our furry friends find loving homes they deserve.

Our commitment extends beyond just finding forever homes; we're also here to reunite lost pets with their families. Thanks to the diligent work of city animal care services, dogs and cats that find their way to us are given a chance to return to their owners through our team’s reunification efforts.
