Policy Statement:
The City of Harlingen, as a recipient of Federal financial assistance and under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes, ensures that no person shall on the grounds of race, religion (where the primary objective of the financial assistance is to provide employment per 42 U.S.C. §2000d-3), color, national origin, sex, age, or disability be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination or retaliation in any federally or non-federally funded program or activity administered by the City of Harlingen. 

Title VI/Nondiscrimination Coordinator:
The City of Harlingen's Title VI/Nondiscrimination Coordinator is its City Planning and Development Director. The Coordinator shall have lead responsibility for coordinating the administration of the Title VI and related statutes program, plan and assurances for the City of Harlingen. The Title VI/Nondiscrimination Coordinator is authorized to ensure compliance with the provisions of the City's statement of nondiscrimination and with the appropriate laws and regulations. The Title VI/Nondiscrimination Coordinator will also ensure implementation of the City's nondiscrimination policy statement and will be responsible for initiating, monitoring, and ensuring the City's compliance with Title VI requirements.
