Welcome to the Harlingen Police Department website.  Harlingen is the 2nd largest City in Cameron County in close proximity to the US-Mexico border.  The Harlingen Police Department is operational 24 hours a day, 365 day a year.  We are dedicated to preserving life, reducing crime, preventing vehicle collisions and enforcing the law with proactive modern policing efforts.  HPD Officers exemplify our core values of Honor, Courage and Integrity.  The Harlingen Police Department embraces a Community Policing philosophy with many Individual and Business Partners who help make Harlingen a safe place to live, work, visit and play; free from the fear of crime.

Harlingen PD has 134 authorized Police Officer positions and 45 Civilian Staff that answer and respond to over 50,000 calls for service a year.  The HPD Executive Staff is comprised of Asst. Chief Miryam Anderson, Deputy Chief Hector Leal, Deputy Chief Daniel Villarreal, Deputy Chief Alfredo Alvear and Civilian Police Manager Carlos Cantu.  The Department has three Bureaus: Uniformed Service, Criminal Investigations and the Support Services Bureau.

The Harlingen Police Department is a Recognized Police Department by the Texas Police Chiefs Association Foundation Inc. Texas Law Enforcement Best Practices Recognition Program, 2017-2021.

Our motto “I am HPD” reflects our community involvement and is a constant reminder that we are a team.  So tag us online or feel free to use #iamhpd to join our movement.  With over 30,000 Facebook followers, you are never alone!
