The Public Works Department operates and maintains a network of approximately 125 miles of storm sewer pipelines and 15 miles of drainage ditches.  Our goal is to perform all street and drainage work necessary to preserve the efficiency of the city's drainage system as it carries storm water from populated areas and into the main drainage canals or into the Arroyo Colorado.  Improvements and maintenance projects are meant to reduce the risk of flood conditions and protect the welfare of the citizens of Harlingen.  For any questions concerning the projects or maintenance schedules shown on this page, please contact our Public Works Offices at 956-216-5300.

For an interactive visual representation of all drain ditches maintained by the City of Harlingen click on the map below.

You can select your nearest location on the map by clicking on this symbol or from a complete listing via a drop down menu.  This tool allows you to view the current mowing and excavating schedule for the selected drain ditch, its general location, length and the District it pertains to.

A printable calendar is also available and will be updated as maintenance progresses throughout the year.
